308 Rebuild Kit wanted

I just stripped my 308 done to the block. What I would like to know is who out there does the best rebuild kits. I'm looking for a kit that is going to last and has the best quaility rings, bearing, pistons, valves etc etc. I will be going for 30 thou oversize pistons and 10 for the main and rod bearings.

I believe Felpro are still making gasket kits for the big six, and if so are they better quality the Best Gaskets?

Another question is where do I get a good quality rear main seal from. I have had some cheapies that only last a couple of months even though it looked good quality.

What paint codes are there for the red and or gold engine colors. I'm still undecided on which one I may go for. My engine bay is red in the 55 Hornet.

  • Best place to get what you need is from Dale Cooper and Randy Maas. As far as I am concerned the only place to get rebuild parts for your Hudson engine. Both have websites. Do a quick search or look for any post from Hudsonkid he has their websites in his signature or checkout my website I have links for everything Hudson.
  • Here's a post with the information...

I second the Dale Cooper and/or Randy Maas...

I went with Randy. I aalso got the Best gasket kit. Only complaint on the gasket kit is that the front seal is worthless. Leaked right from the start. Had to pull it down and put a different seal in. Works good now.

This is Dupli-Color 500 deg. engine paint from Auto Zone etc.

DE 1604 Universal Gold and I've thrown the red can so don't have the number.

    FYI

I also echo Randy and Dale for Engine Parts. Go with the BEST Brand Head Gasket. The best real Seals I discovered right here in this Forum from a few previous Posts... Its a neoprene type 318 Mopar and just trim off the 2 'ears'.

So I saved these Part Numbers to utilize (thanks guys)

    NAPA RS606

    FEL PRO BS40245

    National 5414

Incidently, The best Front seal is Timken #450084

    Steve,

I found Best gaskets the best, Felpro don't furnish all the gaskets in their sets, I found this out after getting engine gaskets for my Classic.

Felpro do not include rocker cover gaskets, but, include all the seals etc, go figure, and they are excellent quality.
