Engine Color, Red Or Gold??

heres my delima, im trying to stay as stock as possible for my 52 coupe, the motor i have that runs is out of a 51. i know that 51 motors were painted red, but the 52's were gold. also i have my twin h intake, what color should i paint that? whats your guys opinion? -john

  • John, 1951 Hornet engines were painted gold as well as the 52's. Intakes were painted gold as well. But remember,this is YOUR car. You paid for it,your name is on the title. Paint the engine whatever color you desire. We can all throw in our own opinions but yours is really the only one that counts.
  • '51-'53 Hornet engines were gold. '54 switchedd to red.:)
  • The 1954 Hudson Hornet engines were the only ones that came RED from the factory. 1948 - 1953 232, 258,262 CID engines were all SILVER from the factory and the answer to the question: 1951 - 1953 Hornet engines were GOLD from the factory.
  • ok, the engine id # indicates that my motor is a 51 but it is painted red, and it looks like it could be the original paint, but i guess it isnt. thanks guys. -john
