im well and truly too far away to do anything about it but i thought i'd try bring it to the attention of someone who can.

How goofy. I'm still waiting for a seller to threaten to slash his wrists or jump from the top of a building. If he wants it out of his driveway so bad, he should give it away to someone in the eastern chapter.0

if the frame was more there, I would really consider this one. It is priced right, and needs everything. I think I got enough 48-9 chrome for a super series stashed, it would not be an issue. What I see of the frame does scare me. Hudsondad would be p/o if he had to weld on this for 6 months to get it solid. Then would be mad when I pull an engine out of the stable for it.
it's 130 miles one way.
If you guys want to sponsor me, feel free to donate to the cause. If you guys get me half way there, I'll go get it... Then you could all rest easy tonight, knowing hudsonkid finally has a hudson coupe....0 -
I'd donate to the cause, ( half of what the start bid is) but I don't want it in my backyard. The main frame looks to have very serious problems. The rest looks like it has real possibilities. This one Might make a great rod project.
BTW H-kid, I'll also throw in an engine and trans, 6 0r 8, stick or OD. Might even consider giving up an early olds and hydro.
And now you know why we saved that set of front seats from a coupe.0 -
"I'm going to burn this great classic in front of Hershey while all watch with tears in their eyes if no one buys it from me."
This is what is called in the marketing world an "urgency motivator" to help sell things and for some of us the thought of another Hudson destroyed really does tug at heart strings or fears fdepending on how you look at it. Not a very nice selling tactic. It's borderline unethical.
But hypothetically if he were going to destroy it that is a waste... ought to just give it away in that case. If no one bought it he gets the same amount of money giving it away as he does destroying it...nothing.0 -
i've conacted the seller. I am hoping to get the best description of the frame, meaning worst case scenario, also, asked for additional pictures. I wanted to know about floor pans, etc.... shock perch, bottom of doors. I hate to think that a coupe that might not be horrible, but still needs repairs, is available...
Heck, I even arranged transporation if needed.
So it sounds like we are half way there, just need a few more sponsors!
actually, if I find that this is something that can be fixed, with some straight forward welding, I might actually consider it. Even for the coupe doors, and rear fenders, and trunk lid, it might be worth the trip.
As far as engine, thinking, heck a straight 8 might be cool.....0 -
I know it's a coupe and all - but did you guys really get a look at the pictures?
There isn't a clean panel on that car that isn't rusted through - the entire length of the "frame rails" down either side are completely rotted out as are both rocker panels and floor boards.
Just asking because this one is in WAYYYYYY worse shape than my 49 was and would be a Really tough sell to do anything than part out and crush the rest.
I'd be curious to know what if any parts are good to use on this car for 400.00?0 -
doors, rear fenders, trunk lid.
also, keep in mind, it's a coupe. I don't see the panel rust, on the doors, or fenders, as being as bad as you are stating, Dan.0 -
rear fender looks pretty decent to me....
look at the bottom.... all the bolt holes still there...
I don't think the car is bad, in terms of body. Structurally, the car has issues. The fenders, doors, hood, and trunk all look decent.
what worries me on this one, is the front turn downs of the frame, they look bad. Also, the one underside shot shows that there is a separation in the main "box" and that is not good.
the side "holes" on the main box, isn't a big deal, that can be fixed. People have fixed convertibles that are far worse.
Ultimately, if this guy wants it gone, I would probably go pick it up for free, before it gets scraped. I just think that unless the pictures show the worst on this one, this would be a bit ambitious.... even for me.0 -
Get it, strip it to the monobuilt frame... make friends with the welding shop teacher at your local community college.... let the students there weld it all up. The start hanging parts back on it. VIOLA!!! You got a new Hudson.... then drive it to the local soft serve ice cream stand and pat yourself on the back! Simple LOL0
-
my problem is i can weld and live on a totally different continent, if i had the job i am trying for i could save the damn thing. on a totally different note, i just made out with a hot barmaid from the pub across the street. yes im drunk and just got home at 7 am0

well, someone saved it. The seller e-mailed me and told me it was sold. I hope someone can do something with it. At least my quest continues, now all we got to do is find that pacemaker coupe....0
