1940 Hudson 8 sedan questions

Can anyone fill me in on how to distinguish between the series 44, 45, and 47 Hudson 4D sedans made in 1940? I gather the 44 series was the most popular of the straight 8's but this is just a wild guess. From the outside, what should I look for regarding body trim? How about interior trim? Where are the serial numbers located on these cars (both body and engine)? What about engine displacement and hp? I looked thru Alex's materials posted on his hudsontech site but did not find any info about trim features that distinguish the 44 from the Deluxe and Country Club 8's. Also, is the Butler book the best resource for pre-war Hudson data? At present, I don't have a copy of this reference. Sorry for all the questions but I might go shopping in the near future.     Serial number tag is on the right front door post just below the windshield, even with the dashboard.

    From what I gather from an old article on the 40 Hudson 8 sedan, the Country Club model was the only one having a split bumper up front and some thin chrome strips running front to back over the crown of the front fender.



    Any details come to mind about the interiors of the three Hudson 8 models from 1940? I am still in search of info. Thanks.

    The engines are the same in all 8 cylinder Hudsons from 1940 up to 1952. 254 cubic inch, 3 x 4-1/2", 128 b.h.p. @ 4000 r.p.m.

    At this point, I am just looking at a few pictures of freshly repainted car that seems to be missing a few pieces of trim. Should be able to view this vehicle on site in the near future. Will jot down the serial number as well as determine the status of the missing parts. Thanks to all for the prompt responses to my questions. Need to learn more about the 1940 production line up.
