Wow, isn't that the $64,000 question. There are so many variables to that question I don't know if anyone has the right answer for you. It depends on how original the car is, how well the work that has been done to it is done. How much you are going to have to spend to make it a good safe driver. I don't know the answer to your question but those are all questions I ask myself when I consider a car. I have a really nice 55 I got for a very good price but in the last year I have spend a considerable amount of money turning it into a daily driver, besides the money I have time, which is tougher to come by these days than when I was retired, but which I can invest more easily than money. Do you have the time to do what the car needs or do you have the money to have someone else do the work for you. I don't regret any of the time or money I have invested but you have to make your own decision on what will work for you. I always say though if I can get a good daily driver for around $3500 I will buy it.

The real quesstion is what's it worth to you. Will you cry if you get stuck with it and can't get rid of it? Because I'll tell you that historically speaking '55-'57 Hudsons haven't kept up in value with step-down Hudsons. Get it because you want it and like it and don't mind spending the time or moohlah on it. If nothing else it would be an attention getter if you drove it. Also do your homework on the history of the car.0

Yes thats the gem, it is definatly origional, it has never been in an accident, it appears that the orange was repainted quite a while ago. The trunk is full of nos parts chrome, lenses, arm rests, a dash, bearings ect. It does run nice. If I can get it for 3,500 ill be happy.

have you checked this car out underneathe for rust? check the unibody real close for it. These cars were known forit, then splitting in half. Is that rust I see on the right inner fender panel ? another vulnerable spot.
That will need to be addressed also.
I live in Western New York where a lot of salt is used so I have witnessed what can happen to these cars. The garage I was working at in the sixties actually had a customers car split in half while it was beeing towed back to the shop. Try explaining that to a customer.. Having said that Florida cars from around the coast are also susceptible to rust due the the humidity and salt in the air from the ocean.
I once bought a 1965 OLds f85 that came from Florida and it had hidden rust problems.

Well, As it happens this week I talked to a guy who had a Hudson for sale but didn't quite knoiw what he wanted for it. Turns out it was a 57 that from all reports was in decent restorable shape. That info came secondhand so I can't verify. The man finally said he'd take $800. The car is in NC. Not my cup of tea but someone out there may want it.0

Well This Car Is Running And The Brakes Have Been Fixed Up These Cars Don't Show Outter Body Rust It Is Always In The Floors And Frame It Looks To Me That The Ebay 57 Hollywood Has Some Rust Problems I'm Guessing That By The Rust On The Under Hood Inner Fenders On The Spring Towers Like The Rust Line On The Passenger Side Spring Tower I'm Guessing The Reason There Are No Floor Or Under Car Photo's Is There Is Frame Rot And I Would Not Buy It With Out Looking At The Floors And Under Body Unibody I Would Check It Out With A Hammer And A Screw Driver If It Has Frame And Floor Rot It Can Be Saved But It Takes Time And Money For The Repairs If You Don't Do It Yourself

I remember this one a while back, does anyone else? this is the one someone was looking for a gas tank for, becuase someone lifted it with a fork lift, and crushed the gas tank. It was on the forum, and I can't find it, but does anyone else?

touche Matt, you found it... I couldn't....
BTW, I still got you tach transmitter. I did not forget. After hudsondad finishes rewiring my house tomorrow (bad breaker panel), maybe I will give him something smaller to fix for me, electronic.... :eek:
If nothing else, I will pull mine from my car, shortly, and send it to you, and worry about fixing this one for myself. That way you at least get a working unit.0 -
Carefully check left frame rail where it joins unibody, around the steering box, they seem to be prone to rusting out in this area, even here in the southwest.0
