Just wondering what you guys use to reseal the middle floor pan when it is reinstalled.

    I was planning on using something like 3M 8578 Strip Caulking.
    Soft, non-hardening caulking material in one-foot lengths for use in all types of seams, joints and openings.

    • Easily thumbed into place and smoothed with finger.
    • May be painted immediately.
    • Has non-sag consistency for vertical and overhead applications.
    • Adheres to metal, paint, glass and rubber.
    • Non-shrinking.
    • Completely waterproof.
    • Will not crack or dry out.
    I've used this on the transmission cover on my CJ5's over the years, basically you just roll it out so it is thin, like a gasket and stick it down along the lip of the floor pan. Like the desription says its also great for firewall holes, tailights, antennas...etc...anywhere you need to plug a hole or gap and don't want to use regular automotive body seal.

    It's very sticky stuff and when you go to pull the transmission cover again sometime down the road, just be patient enough as it will seem like its stuck, but will pop-off with a little prying.

    Hi Jim I went to the glass shop in Westlock and bought a roll of windshield sealing tape it's about 7/16 wide and1/4 inch thick. Put it in

    place and take a wide putty knife and flatten it as much as you think

    it needs. Use it when it is warm. Hudsonly duncan

    I used the 3M strip Chalk. It's great stuff. You can find other uses around the house for it too.

    You can purchase it online - or if you have a local autobody supply they will most certainly have it in stock...just ask for it by number...3M 8578 Strip Caulking

    Just about anyone who might stock 3M automotive products as well.

    This what I used when I bolted the rear fenders to the body after I painted the fenders.
