I've got my hood ornament somewhere for my Commodore...I also think the unique Hudson hood badges are cool as well...

I really like some of the 30's style hood ornaments.
Heres my 49 Commodore replacement badge backlit with a candle...kinda gives it that old time look, probably close to what it looks like lit up on the car..which is another feature I like on the Stepdowns...the optional lighting of the hood badge.

My favorite by far, the Terraplne Griffin. There's a rough one on ebay now.

Another vote for the red cigar. I always thought it was neat.

I too like the griffin. Kind of a metaphysical sort of thing. I do hope some of the motormeeter and wings/dogbones get some air time. They were really great.... I also like the Bittle and Smart 28/29 mascots...
  • The kid chasing the wheel is a 20s and 30s Packard ornament. BTW I like the 48,49 Commodore ornament.

The flying goddess is from a mid to late 30's packard. I have 2.:D
  • Of course its the flying man on the 1928 Hudson.
  • Man, I can't let a thread on hood ornaments go by without showing you guys the one on my 49 Ford pickup. Sorry...:)

NO question - the 1928 "Flying Man cap"

    Geoff.
  • Geoff, that flying man on the 1928 Hudson and Essex models is Icarus, and we know what happened to him! Don't fly your '28 too close to the sun, for those wings are just held on with wax! LOL. Dee K.

the packard "goddess of speed" (a.k.a. "donut chaser" ) is one of my favorites, but in the land of hudson it is the '33 griffin. regards, tom

It has to be the 1929 Hudson "Hudson Man" hood ornament. "There was no 1929 Hudson Man hood ornament!", you say. I believe Eldon Hostetter had Don Sommer make some stainless steel hood ornaments combining a 1928 Hudson "Hudson Man" and the 29 Hudson hexagonal radiator cap.

These can be yours for just under $600. If you feel the need to give to charity, my 29 is lacking one of these.

Ford Bevens, Red River Chapter took the photo at the 2007 Nat'l in Auburn. It is on a 38 Hudson 8, which was parked in the back/side lot. Black or dark blue. Don't know who the owner is, but a beautiful car! Walt-LA
