Hudson convertible question

I am currently re-building the convertible top mechanism for the '52. In the header, there was a fiber-like material that the actual top was nailed to. Curious as to what some of you suggest for a replacement? I know K-Gap sells a "3-piece" gasket set for the header, but have not bought it yet. Maybe they offer a replacement for the fiber-like strip?

It's fairly common. Black tacking strip, comes in a couple different sizes. You screw it down (using the original screw locations). Kanter has it: http://www.kanter.com/p45-tac.html
Originally, it was a cardboard-like material pinched into a thin metal channel which was formed to the shape of the body (at the factory) but this stuff takes the place of the metal channel.0 -
Perhaps you can also find it at a good auto upholstery shop.0
