Marvel Carburetors
I have a Marvel carburetor throttle shaft and lever assembly that was labeled as part no. 12-601, indicating it fits a 1927-1928 Hudson Super 6 with die cast bowl. See attached photo. I'd like to confirm that's what it is. Could someone familiar with this model please let me know if it is correct. The shaft is 5/16†in diameter and measures 4 13/16†long from the inside of the lever to the end of the shaft (5 1/16’’ overall length of shaft). Slot for the throttle valve measures 2 3/16†on one side of the shaft and 2 1/16†on the other side.
Thanks.

Presumably Geoff Clark will be able to answer that but since he's over on the other side of the world, he may be asleep at the moment. So, be patient and check in later in the day, and you may have your answer!0

It is my opinion that you have correctly identified the part.
The end of the part is the same as on my 29 Hudson, although I did not take may carb apart to verify your dimensions of the shaft.0 -
Just one point of clarification. This actually attaches to the Marvel Heat riser portion of the whole carburator assembly. You won't find this actually on the carburator, but rather on the part the carburator bolts to.0

Sheldon,
Without removing the shaft from the heat riser, and assuming the shaft passes all the way through the heat riser and can be seen on the other side, is it possible to use a caliper or paper cutout to get a good measurement of the length of the shaft? Thanks.0 -
Your suspicions are confirmed. The Marvel parts book lists 12-601 to fit Hudson 1928 Series B-2 with die cast bowl. Installed on Hudson motors after motor no. 503931.0

Dear Illinichip; This is Phil Walsh. The shaft you have is absolutely identical to the one on my 1928 roadsters' heat riser. The shaft length is also the same. Mine's rusty wanta sell it? Only kidding. In my opinion it's the part for my car, and if it is,the number should be correct too. Hope this helps,Phil0
