It was at the Denver National many years ago & at that time belonged to Zach Brinkerhoff (not sure if Zach still belongs to HET). He later auctioned it off & a guy in Wyo. bought it and "sat on it" - it must be the one as has Wyo. plates & I see John Soneff has it for sale, probably on consignment.0

Actually, there were 16 of them built, not 9. One was a regular sight in our town when I grew up, and is now in a garage 20 mi from here. There was a roster of them in a WTN I have from the mid-80s0

Ron, don't you have enough 29s? Heck with the price that '29 radiator emblem went for on ebay ($305) you can't afford the entire car!!
Don't you have a 29 coupe you are piecing together?? Get that car done and then you can sell them both to afford the downpayment on the dual cowl.

I was the other bidder on the emblem and a no sale to me. I guess a emblem collector got it. I only have (ONE) Hudson that needs much work.0 -

The Coombs just sold it for $50K to someone else. It was on ebay, didn't go to reserve, but I e-mailed them and they said someone had offered them $50K, but who knows if that ever went through.0

they were sure happy to get this auto.wonder why they let it go?0

Here was their note:
"You know what it's like--it's like finding a good home for one of your kids. Actually, we would like to be able to keep "Huddy", but our financial situation causes us to let it go. Someone else is paying $50,000 for it, and we just couldn't say no."
So my guess is that this mortgage market/financial markets is hitting rich people hard (obviously thats why I am unaffected.).
I guess peoples gots to makes choices. Hopefully "Huddy" will find his way back into HET.0 -
that '31 IS NOT a dual cowl phaeton, just a phaeton. A "dual cowl" has a 2nd windshield in front of the rear seat passengers with a panel that hinges upward to allow entrance into the rear seat.
The only year & model that body style offered by the factory was in '29, made by Biddle & Smart whereas the '31 was made by Briggs I assume, a mundane manufacturer who made bodies for Ford too.0 -
You are right oldhudsons....but we were talking about this one:
The 31 Phaeton was interjected halfway through the conversation. So many beautiful old cars, it is easy to get confused.0 -
OldHudsons, now I see what you were referring to. It was a comment in the 31 Hudson post. Now I am unconfused.0

I'd sure love to own that car too. Some day when the White Triangle Gods favor me I'd love to get my hands on a '29 -'31 4dr sedan (preferably 8 cyl) or 7 passenger model if possible. Dual sidemounts and a trunk. and once I had it I'd never ever sell it. I'd drive it and it would become a burden onto the next generation. LOL
Seems to me like more AACA folks own cars like that than HET members. More rich kids who park em in garages to stare at em than shade-tree mechanics and restorers.0
