Big dumb hands

I don't know what I did but while putting the speedometer back into the Hash I somehow managed to disconnect my fuel gauge. I case you have never put the instrument cluster back into a Hash there are eight nuts that have to be put on stubs from up under the dash while fishing your hands through a snakes nest of wires. Naturally I didn't notice the gauge wasn't working until I had put the whole dash back together. My big dumb hands had pulled something loose. Oh well, if nothing else I am getting good and experienced at working on the Hash. That and I'm finding out AM radio comes in much stronger in the smaller numbers and you had better like talk radio if you're going to listen to AM.

:)Hi Harry, don't feel bad, when things happen, it makes one wonder how they ever put the car together at the factory. Maby that is why they make throwaway cars nowdays. Good Luck, Arnie M

Now you can listen to Bill O'reilly load and clear. :)
  • Well, I crawled up under the dash this afternoon and found all the loose wires. three to be exact, tail lights, head lights and fuel gauge and now my whole dash works, I even found an AM country station that plays only country oldies, I'm styling now. All the dash lights work, the high and low beams work though they aren't adjusted, the only problem right now is my front left turn signal isn't working though the indicator is working as though the circuit is complete. Now it's on to new coil springs in the back. And new glass in the doors, and seat belts, and a few other things, I guess I'm not that close to being done, but I'm smiling while I'm driving.

Dont feel bad, Usually in spite of our best efforts sometimes we have to backtrack at times working on these old cars...Back in the Day the Mech's new all the short cuts working on them daily...

(Actually, sometimes I think I backtrack more often then not)...

Don't forget that very important section of Murphy's law - "If you fiddle with something long enough, it will ultimately break"!

I think you'll find a bad ground at the parking light

Josh, that was my initial thought but the parking light works so the connection is complete, it's just the turn signal side that doesn't work.
