My wife and I plan on coming and spending all week there. We've been to the Pacific ocean with the Hudson, so we're looking forward to driving to the Atlantic coast as well.

We feel fortunate to have found a way to make it to the last three Nationals, so this would make four in a row! Can't wait. It's the highlight of my year!

On thursday I will host another Hudson Essex Era tech session. Bring your questions and roundtable experts will answer all. I plan on being there all week.
  • Got my room, flight and rental car set up and now would like to know if any of the tours set up are worth going to ? I will be traveling alone and the tour stuff is not my cup of tea but do not want to miss out on something neat. Thanks, Ron

I plan to come but just can't take 5 days off.

If you had to choose when to be there, what days would be best for a first timer who is also new to the Essex?

My goal is to get the '29 roadster in proper repair to make the trip.

Flying in, will spend a few days at the National & environs thereof inc. visiting relatives of my wife.

Have made no reservations as of yet.

Gail and I are all signed up for the week. Will be working the hospitality room and Uncle Josh will be performing for your entertainment. Plan on driving the 40 Eight coupe if it's ready, or hauling it on a dolly.
  • Watch that dolly Josh !!! Hope you've used the same one before. I've got one and it's not good for nuthin but compacts, gets into the fenders on my 37 "T". --If I can ask, what's the performance, curious ?

    awca12a,

I'm guessing that if you had two days to spend there, you'd probably want to make it either Friday/Saturday (first choice), or Thursday/Friday (second). Of the last three Nationals I've been to, attendance seems to increase a little everyday. There are those who leave on Saturday, so it probably peaks on Friday night, or thereabouts. Hope this helps. Hope you can make it. You won't regret it.

I agree with Friday/Saturday - spend Friday kicking tires and swapping lies, make the business meeting Saturday morning - it's an important part of the National.

Performance of the eight coupe should be the same as a single carb Hornet. Hornet is 3600lb/145 HP for 24.8 lb/HP and the coupe is 3200lb/128 HP for 25 lb/HP

If you have never seen Larry do his "Uncle Josh" routine, you are in for a great treat! He did a few skits at the Pittsburgh National in 2004 and he had us rolling in the parking lot!

Judy and I are looking forward to the 2008 National as well as listening to Uncle Josh tell his hilarious stories! :D
