Looking for eyes available in Ohio

Hello Fellow Hudsonites,

I have been in negotiation with a gentleman from Mayfield, Ohio who has a 1953 Hornet for sale. the car appears to be mostly complete and has the desirable Twin H set up. I have been trying to get the fellow to send me some photos of some crucial areas of the outer perimeter frame to no avail. Would there be anyone out there on the forum who could go out and inspect the car for me. I would be willing to compensate anyone who could give me a fair assessment of the condition of the car. I have included a few photos below. I look forward to hearing from members.

this car looks like it needs alot of work. How much is he asking.... ?? Just from the pics, anything more than 2500 is to much. Even if the frame is good. You might be better off to keep on looking ... There are some nice cars out there for sale that won't require the amount of time and money that this car will need.... Good luck..
  • You Go Glenn!* Save that 53!* Not for the faint of heart, but it's not junker and looks like it's all there.* I'm sure we've all seen much worse.
  • If you look beyond all of the flaking paint which is most likely from a cheap ill prepped paint job, the car really isn't all that bad in appearance. For those who are asking, I have been able to negotiate a price of $1600 for the car.

  • Glenn, I would jump on that probably. Unless of course the whole bottom is rotted out. A little patching though wouldn't stop me. It looks like you are going to have yourself a project.

Make sure you have right Mayfield. There are two Mayfield's in Ohio. One in Northeast near Cleveland in Cuyahoga County and one Southwest corner near Cincinatti in Butler County. They are 245 miles apart! :)
  • Unmolested except for paint. Original interior (no 60's tuck N' roll!). Twin- H unit is worth alot by it's self as is the visor. There is also the Hudson dispenser under the dash (a bit rusted). As someone mentioned, rust underneath is could be the big if.

If you can't find a Hudsonite to go look at it, then I'd find someone else or pay to have it towed to the local garage for inspection.

I live in Butler County (and have for 33 years) and I have to say that I didn't know that we had a Mayfield. But I did check it out and it's part of Middletown. Looks to be more of a neighborhood.
