Since I'm new to the community, I may have missed out on all the reasons why this can't be done so if I'm off base, mea culpa.

Would anyone out there be willing to brainstorm a crossover database layout-format? I know Geoff has posted some great information for the 20’s era Essex and I’ve seen bits and pieces for other years/models. I’m thinking that if a standard index/layout could be pieced together and then volunteers for appropriate year ranges/etc, we could build something truly valuable. Of course, what worked for crossovers would work for reproductions and before long we’d have a restoration guide …..

It is ambitious but not technically challenging

  • Start with loose leaf parts manual

Scan manual pages using OCR packaage

    Convert OCR pages to Excel

    Convert Excel to Database

Now you have Year, Model (s), Group, Plate, Grp. No., Part No., Name, and Per Car.

Now add the fields for crossover.

The Model(s) field on the Hudson section can even be made into separate datarecords if you want to go that far with it.

Simple forms can be made (Iused MS Access as a test base) to create the search engine to help find the right part.

    Just my suggestion.
