It's a Miracle
My upmost thanks to Geoff,C, for all his help through the months. Ron,P for all his help especially on how to use the choke properly, Park, W, and everyone else that has given me and this site the invaluable info needed to repair and restore their Hudsons.I guess your wondering what the miracle is? Well, it runs, yes, with a little coaxing and tinkering with the levers I finally found the right formula. As Ron, P, noted, I pushed the choke in after a few cranks, then up a little with the throttle, while leaving the advance slightly retarded at first then back to full advance. The engine of course smoked a lot at first, and sizzled the gasket sealer a little. I checked some bolts after shutting it down. I gradually ran it longer each time I restarted, checking for oil pressure(which it has just fine). Next, I thought I,d be able to run it and let it idle if I filled it with water so I did and this time I was able to let it warm up a little and bring it down to idle and almost got it all the way down to it's original setting till it stalled. The motor runs smooth and suprisingly quiet for only an exaust manifold. What a motor, What a car company. Few engines could sit around for 50 years and start and run like the Hudsons. I have leaks from the front and back of the water pump shaft. Hopefully I'll find I can just repack those large nuts that appear to be seals. At the back of the engine there's another leak I believe from the freezeout there. Someone already cut out the firewall so I think I can get access to it. (I sure as hell hope thats the prob). Any way for those who got this far in the story, Thanks for your interest. Thanks again to everyone. I'm on my way to putting one more Hudson on the road. Brake shoes(Dave K) and tires (Custom Classic),are coming next.I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress(Do I seem exited?) YUP! See ya Phil

Thats great Phil..I had to learn the hard way also.. Just to let you know when mine warms up a little I can just turn the key and push the starter and it will start and idle with no adjustments at all. Please keep us posted and some pics would be great. And the smile on your face I can see from Southern California...LOL. Ron P0
