"Doc Hudson" prototype on Ebay
Newly posted on Ebay is a '52 Hollywood which the seller claims was used to create the molds for the fiberglass "Doc Hudson" used in promotional events surrounding the animated film "Cars". This (blue) fiberglass Hudson was in fact present at the opening of the Hostetler Hudson museum in Shipshewana last year.
Actually, it does appear that the claim is true. If you go to the Gunnar racing site you will indeed see "in-progress" photos of what appears to be the Ebay car, being used as a pattern for the fiberglass parts.

I'm really into Hudson prototypes, but I think I will pass on this one.0

Forget prototype.... should call it what it was.... a mold for fibergalls. ....would be better as a restored Hollywood.0

Someone put a '54 engine in it. Nice interior. How do you open the doors, electric? I'd like to see that!

Exactly.:cool:0 -
The eBay pictures show the red sedan also used to get the full side "glass" pieces that were used to recreate an elongated coupe body. Both cars were purchased from same person.0

Ahem! Don't rectangular parking lights belong to a 51?0

Yes, and Doc Hudson is s '51 coupe. What gives with the 2 bodies? Hollywood and Coupe to make molds?0 -
Speaking of Doc Hudson - I just picked up one of the Doc Hudson cars on ebay for 99 cents. There were several for under $3.
Maybe the bloom has gone off the rose.

I just spent $12 on the one with the headphones. "Pit Crew Member-Fabulous Hudson Hornet" A little spendy, but I've never seen one before.0 -
Hornet53, I like to have never found one of the crew chief cars. Then one day as I was picking up a couple of Rx's at Walgreens There it was in the toy aisle $3.69, it was the only one they had and is the only one I have seen in this area.

Got mine at a swap meet, now makes 4 different kinds, Standard Doc, Fab Hud Hor with silver wheels, Fab Hud Hor with red wheels, and the pit crew one. Am I missing any that you guys have?
Also picked up a couple nice watercolor prints, stepdown oriented, of course.0 -

Got the crew chief one the other day as a present. I have three, didn't realize there was four. Guess I'm missing the Fab Hud w/red wheels, haven't seen that one.0 -

The 'Dirt Track Doc Hudson" regular blue body with red wheels. The bad news is that it's available only in a three pack that includes "Dirt Track McQueen" and Sheriff.0 -

Hmmm. Have to find that one.
That brings up an interesting question. Have you guys been buying any of the other toys? Mater, Ramone, etc? Or just the Doc toys? I have not bought anything but Doc since the McDonalds promotion ended.0 -
All I have are Doc items, I have 2 different Key chains. a plate, a Puzzle, a sucker, a ball, a Hat, 2 drink bottle caps, 2 DOC's with silver wheels, 1 Crew Chief Doc with red wheels and a Fabulous Hudson Hornet Doc with red wheels, 4 of the notebook folders and about a dozen of the small spiral bound DOC notebooks, 6 spring topped light-up ink pens with DOC on top. Oh yeah 1 of the 3'x6' wall sheets.0

Ebay ad claims the car had a "body off" restoration. Sort of hard to get the body off a unibody car. Too bad people don't just stick to the facts.0

I personally know from Paul Newman, this is not the car. the real proto is a 4 dr to be exact. Lotsa shake and no BAKE. Take it from Little "Doc". Nice try though.0
