Exterior Chrome Horns, 1937-8
I noticed an Ebay auction for a pair of chromed horns, that ended yesterday (the horns went for $230). These were very similar if not an exact match, for the accessory horns used by Hudson in 1937 and perhaps 1938.
In case any of the (losing) bidders were searching for this type of horn, you have a 'second chance". There is an elderly fellow by the name of Nuxoll, in Washington State, who reproduces these horns (he makes and chromes the trumpets and other parts as well, to the Hudson specs, as well as those of other antique car manufacturers). He brings his wares to Hershey every year, but I just spoke to him on the phone and he thinks this will be his last year coming to Hershey (he's 89!).
The price of these reproductions is not cheap -- it's up in the vicinity of $350 a pair. But of course that is "new", with new chroming (which ain't cheap nowadays!). And it does NOT include the cost of the Hudson-only chromed bracket (which Bill Albright is now taking orders for). But still, those Ebay horns were the first ones I've seen for sale in years -- and they were used!--,so at least there is another source for them -- for the time being!

I guess you did not see the others, they were a pair of Klaxon that went for $677. They looked to be closer to the pictures of the 37 horns I have seen.

I don't mean to contradict you, but according to the seller of the $677 Klaxons, his trumpets were 11' long. I once measured a pair of horns on a '37 Hudson and the entire horn (including the bell portion) was only 10'. The trumpet itself was less than 7'.
I think those Klaxon's on Ebay were from some sort of "senior" car, not a '37 Hudson or Terraplane. The dimensions sent to me by the seller of the above-mentioned Ebay horns was much closer to the ones I had dimensioned several years ago -- trumpet 6 1/2" long... Trumpet diameter 5"... Bell diameter 5"...0 -

Hi, Paul:
I don't know about the second one, but I'm pretty sure that it was the first one which I had dialed yesterday. When I talked to Mr. Nuxoll.. Or someone claiming to be him!0 -
Hi Jon---I called Mr. Nuxol at the first number you gave about a week ago & ordered a set of them to the tune of $420.00 plus shipping for my 37. Have not received them yet & don't expect to for another week or so. Thanks loads for the information as I had previously attempted to contact him without success. Hudsonly---Cliff Minard.0
