Who makes the closest match for the brown 1952 Hornet Seat material? How about door panels? Thanks

    Niels,

Try SMS in Oregon. They do have a very good match for the brown stripe (cloth) used in some '51 Hornets, though it is not inexpensive- by any means! Haven't looked at their vinyls. They also have another, striped pattern, that I thought looked more like the brown stripe in '52's for which I've mostly seen photos. Less sure of it. Lots of fading occurs in 50+ years... Walt-LA
  • LeBaron Bonney has some close matching material as well.

I bought my material from SMS last year. It was close to $100 per yard. I bought 9 yards for my sedan and then waited several months to get it. They took my money immediately and I didn't see the product for months! I guess they have that luxury, since they are about the only company that you can get the exact material from. I used marine grade vinyl for my car. The reason for this was twofold: UV inhibitors and its resistance to salt. The reason vinyl cracks is because the salt excreted from your sweat breaks down normal vinyl over time. I know that most of the vinyl on my '51 is not in crucial areas such as this, but the extra insurance of using marine grade was a no brainer. I will be getting my finished seats and door panels for my Hornet back Mother's day weekend. I am anxiously awaiting!
