FREE 12 volt power in Hudsons

Every year I try to impress on the lads that you can have original and modern side by side. Buy a solar charger on "E" bay for $20 bucks, and plug it into a socket for charging a 12 volt deep cycle battery in your trunk. They lay very flat on the Hudson rear deck and will keep up with even the greatest stereo system. It will also give you cell phone charging, cool dew dads power, and even a 12 volt clutch activation for many hours on a hot day.
The best ones are the transport chargers used to keep batteries up on new cars being transported...Cheap and tough. Good listening kiddies, and keep that cell phone in top condition, without changing the entire system over , if that is your desire.

I suggested the same thing a while back and still thnk it's a good alternative to converting to 12v. That is unless you need AC.0 -

AC? They're called Swamp coolers Dave... Well those don't really work in the mid-west due to humidity. But I favor the 4-70 system. 4 vent windows open at 70 mph. Which I can attest does in fact work!! As long as you're moving.
Wish new cars had Vent windows.
As for the stereo I just set a battery power boom box with a remote up on the package tray of my Hudson.0 -

Even if you need 12 volts for A/C, the clutch can be powered by the battery in the trunk and the solar charger will keep up most of the day. The old 6 volt motor for the Evap. fan will still work, and there are 6 volt concensor fans available as well. The only problem I have seen for A/C is the clutch itself.
Now, that said! You could mean AC as in 120 volt AC. IN which case I recommend the use of a Vector starting pack for your 12 volt power supply, It has a 115 VAC converter built into it for running cell phone chargers, radios TV or VCR and will run tools, lights and most anything using less than 600watts. Plus it is driven from the internal 12 volt DC in the power supply and converted to the 115 VAC from there. All in all, it is a neat idea, which I have used for years.

My Hudson is 6volt positive ground so, the clutch and fan motor for my under dash AC is operated from carry around starter battery system. This handcarry unit incorporates a, lamp, radio, aircompressor and 12 volt cigar lighter power outlets. Works just fine... will be adding the Solar panel... this will allow me to keep the battery charged while motoring... currently I carry my unit to available power outlet and use builtin charger connected to a 120volts during non driving time.
Thanks for the tip0 -
