Hash getting tired
I'm getting ready to put some radials on the Hash and I have a question. Right now I have G78-15 bias ply tires on the car which are a pretty snug fit. Since the Hash doesn't sit as low as the step downs I'm thinking that 70 profile radials would improve the ride over 75's. Since the car is big I think a 235X70-15 would be a good choice if it will clear fenders. My question is will that be a good fit or should I stick with the 225X75-15 sized tires? I had forgotten how much bias ply tires chase the grooves in the road. The worst part of this is there is a ton of tread left on my tires but the sides are badly weather checked and I don't trust them for long freeway trips at freeway speeds. Running in the 100 degree weather the other day made me think of it even more. I don't know if the sidewalls are compromised by the weather checking and 40 years ago I ran around the country on much worse rubber but I don't have to do that kind of stuff anymore so I prefer not to.

Does your '55 have the optional power steering? If not, I'd suggest getting the smaller size tire. Radials take a bit more oomph to turn in the parking lots than the bias ply tires. The maneuverability of my Jet improved greatly when I put the correct (smaller) size radials on.0

Matt, thanks, I didn't think about that. No power steering on the Hash. I was looking at the fender wells and though there is a lot of room I think going to a lower profile would make the tires look too small. I think maybe I should stick with the 225/75-15 tires will be a better match.

I still have antique (old) Sears bias plys on my '50 C6. The first time I drove it I couldn't believe how much easier it was to steer than my Jet. When I get around to it, my old Jet tires will go on the '50.0

Paul, thanks, I knew someone would have an answer to why that wouldn't work. By the way, don't worry about the front plate holder, I got another one. Where have you been lately? It seems like you haven't been around for awhile.
