I am looking for a front set and a rear set for my 46 Pick Up. I see lots of 10" on the internet, but no 11's. Who sells them?

Dave: just a word of caution. Have you actually mounted those shoes on your car yet?
The reason I ask, is that one of our members with a '53 Hornet, went through three sets of new brake shoes, purchased at local parts houses, only to find that none of them worked. They were primarily for Fords but the interchange book suggested they'd fit Hudsons as well. In every respect they were identical to the Hudson brake shoe, save one: the notch at the top, where the shoe fits around the anchor pin. Because the notch was not placed correctly for the Hudson anchor pin, the shoes always stuck out too far to get the brake drum on!
The "new" shoes can be modified by grinding and welding (I think Dave Kostansek does this) but will not fit the Hudson backing plate "as-is".
Your TS TS55 shoes may be a perfect fit, and not the "incorrect" shoes I'm talking about. All I am suggesting is that -- unless you are dead sure they're the right ones -- you may want to try fitting them first.
If they're the right ones, then I'm gonna write these numbers down for future reference!0 -
I also have used TS-55's for quite awhile. You must turn the drums properly and also follow the procedures in the shop manual after you install new shoes. Jon,I think you are referring to the front brake shoes for Stepdowns.They are different and require modification. This modification was spelled out in a recent WTN article by Walt Mordenti[2-1/4x11]0

Yup. Installed them Monday and went for a test drive. They seem to be working OK. I have a Pridemore kit on the front so no feedback on front shoes.0 -
For what it's worth, the front brake shoes interchange ONLY with 49-53 (if I recall correctly) Pontiac and some 1940s Oldsmobiles. This per my very old brake shoe catalogue. Some time ago I found a website for a Pontiac club and they had advertised the correct repro brake shoes so that is a possibility. I bought a set of NOS ones on ebay and 3 of the 4 were correct and the last one was for a Ford. I think I'd rather just install disk brakes.0

I Have Used Ford Truck Shoes On My 53 Hornet. I Had To Unbolt The Top Centering Pin And Elongate The Hole Down. The Pin Is Closer To The Wheel Cyl. Put On The Drum And Center The Shoes.
The Ford Truck Shoes Are 11 1/16" X 2 14". The Only Problem I Have Had Was With Too Hard Of A Lining. Hope This Helps. Dave
LATE ADD,ON HUDSONS THE CENTERING PIN IS ADJUSTABLE. THE SMALL NOTCH IN THE FRONT OF THE DRUM ALLOWS YOU TO CHECK HOW THE SHOES AER CENTERING IN THE DRUM. I WOULD NOT PERSONALY WELD ON THE SHOES. DAVE0 -
there is someone now selling 11 inch front hudson brake shoes on ebay. just got a set, brand new, work perfect! they just started listing them recently.0
