Are people crazy or not?

Has anyone seen the price on the rocker trim listed in Ebay? They seem to be pretty dented for the price they are getting.

Right up there with the nut cases that bid over $600 for a 1:43 scale Hudson a week or so back.

Some interesting stuff. One listing says he bought out the estate from someone in So. Cal. Some priced crazy. Some good deals.0

"Not perfect but close" ???????
I cannot believe someone would actually describe this molding in such a way. One of those pieces is seriously mangled. I don't even know what else to say.....0 -
Actually, I do know what else to say. Saying that molding is "close to perfect" is like saying that Shaquille O'Neal is close to the perfect jockey.0

Oh My Gosh! When I bought my '48, it was full of stainless trim. It didn't fit anything on my car, and the best I can tell, it fits a '52. I started to throw it all away when I first got the car. Now, I think I need to dig all of it out of the attic, post it on Ebay, and retire wealthy!0

Is this trim specific to a coupe? Maybe that's why it is fetching so much.0
-
The rocker panel trim is not specific to the copupe or two door, but it is to the long wheel base chassis - it would not fit on a wasp or pacemaker

Stuff like this is hard to find. Last three nationals had barely any in decent form0

You are right stuff like THAT is hard to find! People just keep getting stupider all the time and before you know it someone will buy it and set a new standard price for junk. It is getting nothing but worse with scrap metal people selling everything for scrap where is this hobby going?0

I had to chime in here, as I recently was involved in the purchase of similar product.
Firstly, like I always say, something is worth what the seller is willing to accept and what the buyer is willing to pay.
That said, this trim is for the "senior" cars. Like it was stated earlier, this is very hard to come by lately.
Is this molding on E-Bay overpriced? YOU BET! Someone going to buy it? Probably.
Example: After some heavy searching, I finally located a complete NOS set of trim for the bottom of the fender, door and quarter for a '50 Commodore (2-door models), which was unique for that model and year. The trim I purchased was TRULY PERFECT and looked brand new. Incredibly rare find and exactly what I wanted. PRICE: $300.00. Perhaps, a little more than I wanted to spend, but am happy with the purchase, nonetheless.
Example #2: I just bought a complete set of the triangular trim that goes on the bottom of the rocker panel that is USED, but in MUCH better shape than what was listed on E-bay. A couple of dings to repair, then sanding and polishing and they will also look like brand new. PRICE: $62.00 Hell of a deal.
Secondly, for those of you that have stashes of this stuff hiding in the attic, please take heed: Get it out, and list it here or in the WTN (or on E-Bay). You'll make some money, and help someone else save another HUDSON.
All of this type of trim, especially for the 2-door models is getting harder to come by as every day passes and is precisely why I am looking into making new reproductions. Currently, the only thing holding me back is wondering if there was a big enough market to offset the cost of tooling up. A complete set would run in the $200-$250 range.
I'll try and post a pic of the NOS set I purchased tomorrow.0
