There is a twin-h on ebay that has no bids. Is there a problem with this one? Would a 55 twin-h work well on my 54 308 engine or should I get one from the 51-54 era, in other words what are the pluses and minuses of using this year twin-h on an earlier engine other than modifing the exhaust pipe?

  • I think one reason for hesitation is due to the repair cost involved with getting the exhaust manifold welded as it now appears. Many would look at the present price of $199 and consider holding out for a better version or at least a price reduction in this one considering how you would have to pay to get it welded and the time and expense. This setup would work in a 54 Hudson but you may have to tweak your exhaust pipe a bit as it dosen't follow quite the same contour as when it was a Detroit built engine.
  • Cracked manifolds, I had a set up for sale a while back and that was the first thing knowledgeable guys wanted to know. Cracked? They weren't interested . Mine was'nt and went to the best home it could have. I'm sure it's now on one of the nicest Hudsons out there . Bud

Walt Mordenti here; I have a complete set up in perfect condition, Twin-H intake, the correct exhaust manifild with the heat riser that works, and the bottom elbow that only fits 55 and 56. I'm asking $450.00 plus shipping. You can use 968s or 2113s carburetors, but must be paired. Walt.
  • I was interested in this set because it is located about 2 hours from my home. I thought the crack could be easily welded. my brother-in-law does welding on his farm. But from what has been said here it takes someone who does precision welding and should not be done by someone who just wants to make sure farm implements are fixed. Also it concerned me that no bids have been made on this twin-h, probably the cost of fixing the crack will have to be deducted before anyone will buy. I will have to get back to Walt about his set-up because I live in Canada between Buffalo and Toronto, therefore shipping here is expensive and our fine government will tax everything. There are mail box places where I can get things shipped in Niagara Falls, NY, so I will try to find out what they charge for something like this. Thanks for everyone's feedback. :)

I'm bringing a good '55-'56 exhaust manifold to the Central Regional in Dayton next week; also the correct exhaust pipe for using this manifold on a stepdown car.

Go to Dayton, buy Parks manifold and figure a way to wire to the exhaust system of your car and you can then smuggle it over the border. LOL

  • This unit sold for $207. Whoever bought it probably knows the cost to weld and fix it. I think the price is pretty good if it is as advertised and easily restored.
