54 Hornet steering box leak

I have the front end of my car off and the engine has been pulled to rebuild. I have noticed that the steering box is leaking where the arm attaches on the passenger side. Is there a replaceable seal for this?

    If the leakage is at the steering box, yes, there are oil seals which can be replaced. Does your car have power steering?

    Thanks for your reply and no, the car does not have power steering. It is leaking right behind the arm that hangs off of the steering box. Is it a chore to change the seals?

    If by the arm you mean the pitman arm, it's not really that much work to change the oil seal. If I remember correctly, the original part number for the oil seal was 301209. How badly is it leaking?

    Dave, yes it is the Pitman Arm. It has been dripping constantly for weeks now. Not a heavy flow just a steady drip. I figure since I can access it easily now I might as well try to resolve it. Who would have those seals?

    Give this a shot. Steering box bearing and seal kit for all stepdowns @ $25.00. You can't beat that.

    NOW is the time to do it, because after the engine is back in.. It ain't gonna be much fun. There shouldn't be any difference in the seal (or box for that matter) power steering or not. You will need a fairly specialized tool to pull the pitman arm off unless you get creative and make your own.
