Changing My Points On My 53, 308 120volt Hudson, I Got Part Number 1362p6i, Now I Am Told That It Is Only For 6 Volt. Does Anybody Have The Part Number For 12 Volt.

1362 is what you need. I put one in my 54 and one in a friends 51.
  • The petronix kit (1362P6) I put in my Hudson Dist. IAT4203 worked well. It is 6 volt pos grd. 1362 is the module type, 12V neg grd. The P stands for POS grd and the 6 stands for 6V. I would asume that you switched to Neg with the 12 Volt conversion. ..Was not difficult to install, only requiring the removal of the tab that the points attache to. I removered the advance plate for easier acess to the rivits and clean and lub the advance weights.

Check around for the best price.. If you order from a vendor outside your state you will skip the sales tax... It will be direct shipped from PETRONIX anyway.

    From Pertronix Website:

"Some applications are available in 6-volt negative ground, as well as 6 and 12-volt positive ground. Add an N6, P6 or P12 suffix to the part number when ordering "

The 308 in my 49 Commodore came to me with the Crane Cams setup. Has

been absolutely trouble free for the 3 years I've had it and appears to be

several generations older than the one they sell now. Just another option

    for you.http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?show=browseParts&lvl=5&prt=160
  • If I Had Used My Head, I Could Have Figured Out That P6 Stood For 6volt. I Got The Right One And Its Great, Changed The Plugs To .040 Gap. Now It Seems That The Engine Is Going To Fast. Is It Normal To Have To Readjust The Carbs?.
  • The idle speed is directly related to the timing of the engine. If the engine timing was changed as a result of exchanging the distributor the idle can go up or down depending on where the timing is set. Check the timing and adjust to the setting shown for your engine. Then if the idle is still higher than desired adjust the air mixture and idle to the desired points. Note if vacume is leaking ... the idle will also be affected... the vacume advance line was disturbed.
