Jim Harmon in Banks ,Oregon might have some new or possibly useable. Also Jim can arc your shoes to properly fit your drums. He probably also has relined brake shoes and other parts available. Why you are dealing with Kanter when Hudson people and parts supplies are only 2 hours away??? Lou Cote0

I would say, spend the extra on the KGAP parts, do it once, and do it right, even though those old good used mounts look fine, they can and will eventually fail.
Stay away fron Kanter. Lou is right, you can get everything you need from hudson people, way cheaper, just ask, someone will chime in and help.0 -
Well Hudson Kid has HUDSON SITES listed each time he posts. Some of the links are connections to Hudson Parts dealers, while others are a combination of potential sources and information. While the dealings with Kanter or other vendors may not always work out... they are providing Hudson parts... it is up to us to be aware of what those parts are and how to use them in our application. As time passes the old mechanic tricks necessary to make proper repairs are being lost. It seems many auto hobbyists expect to be able to go to the local cheap auto parts store and pickup a “whats u ma call it†for our favorite barn find classic and have it work without fiddling. Knowing that an available part fits a Hudson becomes separated from the comment… this part fits, BUT you have to “arc the shoes’ or “create a spacer to establish clearance,†without these amplifying statements the replacement part is now wrong and the vendor is vilified for misrepresenting the part. Let’s face reality the last Hudson was produced 49 years ago. It is astounding we can even buy parts for a 1957 or earlier Hudson!
Take a look at those sites listed at the bottom of Hudson Kids’ posts, and read the tips... they could save you time, frustration, and trips to the shipper to return the parts which do not work...
Smileand have a wonderful day in OUR GREAT LAND!:D

I guess my beef with Kanter, is if you have a little background on the company, you will know that they essentially get a lot of their parts from the same people you can get parts from, just jack the price up a lot, and pass the not so great deal on to you. from the selection available, I doubt there is anything that Kanter offers, that I could not find easily from a hudson vendor elsewhere.
One of the things I would like to do is create a website (yeah, in my spare time!!!) of hudson cross reference parts, mainly for stepdown, but would be more than happy to include any information for pre stepdown or hash, mainly consisting of modern parts that work, to keep old hudsons running. Essentially, you could stop at the site, write down part numbers, go to NAPA, Autozone, Advanced, etc... have them get the parts, and go home.
I feel bad to hear that anyone bought brake parts from Kanter, when the right fit stuff can be had from Dave Kostensak for less. I was going to mention to Dave, the need for a web presence, at Doc's but I did not see him. Maybe at the local fall meet in Carlisle....0 -
I am well aware of Jim Harmon having spent about $500 to $600 there over the last year. He is a great guy and very helpful. Banks is about a 2 &1/2 hour drive from where I live and considering the cost of gas and the time involved, sometimes it is easier to have the parts dropped at your door. As it turns out, with feedback from the Forum I got the Kanter shoes to fit just fine. Lowered the anchor pin and filed down a couple of high spots on the metal part of the shoe.

Regarding used Hydro mounts, I have not had much luck with them.
Regarding Hudson Parts to modern Cross over List, there is a good start on a Conversion List already in Ken Cates Stepdown Link on the HET Home Page. I notice an email address to update parts as we find to fit Hudson...
Additionally, Advance Auto has been helpful lately using a manual Classic/Antique Catalog that I seen advertised in a TV Commercial. At first I felt odd because the counterpersons usually hit you with make & model at the computer, but this wk I have just bought a pr of '53 Wheel Cyl's in stock and a '47 Dimmer switch that they got overnight.
Apparently Advance wants to capture some of the Market and pricing is great. It is nice to bring an original Part number though. (at first the Couunter person may huff because he/she has to manually look up the part but they have supplied many other parts for my Hudson Projects and have became accustom to me. NAPA may also have the resources...0 -

hey... what was the part number for the Advanced Auto wheel cylinders?0 -
My local Auto Zone is also taking the extra time to look for parts (not only for my Hudson but other classic cars).
When I first went in, I asked for the manager. I told him what I have and that I have a fairly solid list of cross-over parts from other makes. He told me they would be glad to look in the books to make sure we are getting the right parts. They do even have some of them in the computer system now.0 -

On the subject of the transmission mounts.. I used a set from Kgap about 2 1/2 years ago. I remember having to do some work on the mounts to get them to fit. I just don't recall the details. Expect to do a little "fitting". I doubt you will find a better set anywhere else unless you uncover some New old Stock. Good Luck0

FYI
The Advance Auto Rear Wheel Cyl numbers for my '53 Hornet crossed over to W59240 & W59241 and they were in Stock....I believe they are Chrysler but fit fine.....
I belive adding Part Nubers to a 'central Master List' is the right thing to do. It sure simplys things at the Auto Stores. Currently I jot down any new numbers I find in my file..0
