that is really unique! Was this made this way or did someone "create" it?

If original, did Ruskin make it or someone else?

There is a Railton here in the U.S. with a body built by Dalgetty, only known Railton bodied "Down Under", as well as the '34 T phaeton but I don't know who made that body.

Yes it is original, not 100% sure on body builder, but, possibly Ruskin.

Now, this one was home made, it started it's life as a 1937 Terraplane sedan, my late father and older brother constructed this ute to use in our business as Hudson/Terraplane spare parts here in Australia, in the 50's through to the 70's we used to buy and scrap H&T's for parts, boy, I wish I had some of those cars now. The front end (1940) was attached as was the dashboard. I drove this ute for a few years when I first obtained my licence, had lots of fun in it, note the front bumper bar, used for pushing cars around.

I don't want to derail this ute thread, but just to comment, there is an Australian bodied Railton (34 8cyl?) in Brisbane Queensland, done by King of Sydney IIRC. Dalgety were (are?) importers merchants and traders of long standing, not sure that they ever bodied cars, but someone will be along who knows more about that.

The Oz bodied 34T phaeton that made its way back to the US is one of a batch of reputedly 6 that were produced by Olding. There is an eminently restorable one in Lismore northern NSW that is offered for sale now and then.
  • re 1939 112 ute photos which i took behind a antique shop at Wangaretta VIC some 13 years ago, and i have more photos somewhere. this car now on the mid north coast Taree NSW & is for sale $2500 its yours and still in this condition. the tail gate is missing and chassis is very rusty, buy is worth saving. dash is all there.

In southern NSW there is a 38 terraplane ute in the same condition for the same money for sale.

'Both cars are Ruskin built bodys
