I was just wondering who you have used to rebuild/convert to 12v/restore the gauges in your Hudson?

I live in So Calif and only know of Riverside Speedometer and that's only by their name and by looking at their website. Any experience with this company or other recommendations is much appreciated.

    Dan-

The only electrical part of re-building your speedo is to change to a 12V bulb . . . the rest is mechanical. Just recently re-built another one. The speedo itself is actually fairly easy and straightforward to clean, re-furbish, etc. Or did I miss your point?
  • Russell,

I am wanting all my guages (speedo, clock.battery, oil) cleaned up. restored and what needs to be done to the guages to make them operate on 12v. I suppose there may not be that much needed to convert over to 12V. The company I mentioned, Riverside Speedometer does more than just speedomoters if memory serves me.

I am looking for anyone who might have had experience with this company or if there is someone else who would be recommended to do the guade restorations.

Try North Hollywood Speedometer in North Hollywood CA. They have been doing just about everything for many many years. My Dad and I have used them many times.
  • Take a look at Ken Cates' Website there are folks who refurb guages listed there. In addition to the restoration information there is an article by Park W which explains what is required to make the guages work when a Hudson is converted from 6 VDC to 12 VDC.

    Have a Happy HUDSON Day!

    Dan,

I've had limited experience with Riverside Speedometers When I changed over to a 3.08 rearend Riverside made a "custom " ratio adapter for me for about $ 100 - works fine. It's on the money, so to speak. no problems. Did not take unusually long to receive. They have a stock one which is close for that ratio, and for a number of other ratio's as well. Walt-LA
