50 Pacemaker almost finished.
Just thought I'd share my happiness, I started driving my Pacemaker again every day. Got the front bumper back from the platers Monday and put it on. I finished the painting last week,(never do that again). It has all new brakes including a Pridemore disc kit and a bunch of other work done to it. Now it is time to enjoy it. I will try to post a few pics, it has been a long time since I tried posting pics. I'm just happy as I can be. Richie.

Looks great. Beautiful color. Enjoy.0

WOW! That looks great! I can't wait till I get mine back together so I can start driving it again. Could you post how much you were charged to replate the front bumper. I'm fixing to have mine re-chromed, and would like a price to compare with. GREAT JOB ON THE PAINT.0

beautiful, has about the same paint scheme as my '50 Sedan. Man I miss her makes me want to get out on the road and drive it again. Not that it matters in the least but noticed your hood ornament and tail lights weren't Pacemaker.
Looks fantastic!0 -
:)A very sharp looking ride. Great job, Get behind the wheel and enjoy a real car. Have a great cruisin summer, Arnie0

Nice job! The color looks great on the car.
We hate you  (not!) Really Rambo and I are eXtremely jealous because you are getting to have all the fun drving your nice looking ride!0 -
A beautiful Hudson.0

Can't imagine why you'd be happy! What a gorgeous car! Nice job.0

Thanks guys for all the compliments, I appreciate them. Been driving it all morning. I had almost forgotten what a pleasure it is to drive.
Wkitchens, it cost $330.00 for just the straight bumper, nothing else. The bumper guards and other accessories would be extra. Still on cloud nine !! Thanks again guys, Richie.0 -
Great Looking Hudson! Are you able to see out of the passenger side rear view mirror? I am having trouble with mine, on my '50 Commadore Sedan.0
-
Great looking car, and its a Brougham. The Brougham models are very
rare.0 -
Thanks Victor, the passenger side rear view mirror is basically useless for the driver. I really can't see much of anything with it. It looks good though !! LOL. I keep a pretty close watch in the inside rear view mirror and the driver's side outside mirror. I always turn my head to the right to make sure nobody is there when making moves to the right. Hdsn49, thanks! Richie.0

I miss my '50 Pacemaker Brougham... that's the one that got wrecked. People at cruise nights used to be floored that it was factory and not chopped.
As far as mirrors I've seen guys mount them out on the front passenger side fender to make them "useable" but it doesn't do as much for the astetics as just having the passenger side mirror same as the drivers side.
Being that the bench seat is so far across anyway you simply ask your passenger to be a pal and tell you what they see out of it. LOL0 -
Absolutely beautiful color and application. What is the code? Sure would look good on mine!0
-
Nice looking car! That is my favorite color, my dad's 50 C6 is the same color (or looks like it from here)
Did you have it painted at a shop, or DIY ?0 -
SuperDave wrote:Absolutely beautiful color and application. What is the code? Sure would look good on mine!
Thanks SuperDave, the Duco stock number is 896 the color number on the 1950 Hudson colors chart is 202-81550 and is called peacock green light metallic. I took the gas tank filler door to the paint shop and their computer formulated the paint to match. Richie.0 -

faustmb, thanks. I stripped it to bare metal with a razor blade and paint stripper. I went on the internet to find out how to paint a car. Lot of mistakes with metallic paint, hard to deal with. I painted it one panel at a time. My body work stinks and my painting leaves a lot to be desired. But I enjoyed doing it and am somewhat pleased with it. I'll never do it again panel by panel though. It is my daily driver, not a show car. I'm a happy camper !! Richie.0 -

Aaron D. the car came with the accessories that you see, I haven't changed anything other than mechanical stuff and paint. I know lots of it is not stock, but that is the way I bought it. Thank you, Richie.0 -

Now you know why it costs so much when you take it to a reputable shop to spray - it's a lot of hard work and takes time to learn body work and painting.
I'm glad you're using the car for a driver - no sense making it soooo nice you can't drive it any!0 -
Ritchie!
What a gorgeous car!
Probably the best daily drivers of the era, I know you're having fun. Hope to see you at the Redneck Rumble in Lebanon TN - if you can make it.
There would be two of us Hudnuts teaming up on Don Coatney - which would be a pleasant turn of circumstances. (I've been outnumbered by Mopar flathead folks far too long).

Thanks Mark, Don hasn't said anything about the Redneck Rumble. When is it? The last thing I have to do is change the narrow head to a wide head. I have everything except the gasket, still waiting and watching for the mailman every day. Once that is done I'm ready for some trips, the overdrive works great. It would be good to team up on ole Don !!!0 -

You are sooooooo right Rambos ride !! It is a talent I can appreciate now. I wouldn't care how good my car was, I'd drive it daily anyway. That is the fun of owning one of these old Hudsons. I have three old cars and they are all I drive. My truck just sits there day after day. Richie.0 -

Why would you want to swap heads?
I've heard of swapping a narrow block head to a wide block engine, for compression's sake - but not the other way around.

Don said he'd be there, if work allows.
I'm makin' plans.

That car looks super fantastic. What a cool looking ride. I sure hope you get lots of looks and stares, and nobody runs into you. Will you air condition this car? Thanks for the pics. Lots of inspiration and prespiration(ck spelling). Bob0

Thanks for the compliment Bob. I stopped at a Waffle House for lunch yesterday and the whole place emptied out to look at the car. It does get lots of looks and thumbs up. I will not put air in it, I don't mind the heat I just open the windows and cowl vent. Thanks again. Richie.0 -
You don't need AC as long as you're moving I found out you won't break a sweat. Also helps to have enough insulation on the floorboards under your feet. Those wing windows really work. I was doing 70 on my way to the Nashville National (remember how hot that was?!) and as long as I was on the highway...no sweat.0

Richie, that's a nice looking P-Maker. Just curious whether you have overdrive on it. That front end is going to be really handsome once you get a nice bright red center grill ornament plastic in it. Enjoy!:)0
