Fuel Pump Squirting Oil
49 Comm 8 with rebuilt AC fuel pump from Dave K. Drove car for first time and found discovered that at high RPM or under load, the FUEL PUMP squirts oil out from a small hole in rectangle on front of pump. Can anyone shed any light on this? Very strange. I can post a picture of where on the pump it is coming from if it will help.
Thanks

Oil coming out under pressure is a sign of a diaphragm failure. The oil comes into the block side of the pump to lubricate the mechanics. Normally the gasket and the diaphragm are the seals that keep the oil captured inside the pump mechanicals. One check you can make is if the screws around the circumfrence of the pump are tight. Check with Dave about his thougths.

When My double action pump started this I found the diaphragm had a tear in it letting the vacuum pull the oil from the crankcase and then pumping it out the vent hole.

Speaking of Dave K.....Is he hanging of the wrenches? I see he has been selling lots of really nice stuff on Ebay lately. If you need something special, it might be a good time to call him.
