Heater valve for '47

Anyone have one of these cable-controlled heater control valves? This one's from our fairly original '47C8, and the bottom "nipple" was pretty much welded to the aluminum head. Broke off when I tried to remove it. The upper part is still OK, so one with the upper part damaged would still be usable.

If you cannot find a Hudson heater control valve, maybe these aftermarket heater control valves would work. Four Seasons 74648 ('65 AMC American) pull to open or Four Seasons 74682 ('70 AMC Hornet V-8) pull to close.

To see picture of the Four Seasons heater control valves, enter the part number into part search box on the left hand side.

I just checked and these are available online from http://www.partsamerica.com. Enter the part number in the search box; you will get a few results, two of which are actually a control valve. I'm sure they're available through other sources, but didn't take the time to do a thorough search. Caveat: I have no experience with PartsAmerica, so can't endorse them.

    Park,

My 49 Brougham had one of those heater controls on the engine when I got the car. When I rebuilt the engine and restored the car I replaced it with a ranco valve. I might still have the old one. I will check this weekend.

I'd like to stay with the original type valve if I can find one, but thanks, Mars55, for the info on the AMC ones. They'll be a good alternative. Hdsn49, if you find your old one, could you please e-mail me direct at hetpwald@comporium.net (remove the het). Thanks to all for the good info and suggestions.
