Side window Sun Shades/visors

I am installing the glass on my 52 Commodore 8 and went to trial fit the side window sun shades/visors. What is the color of the underneath of these sun shades/visors, the body color or the green primer that is the color under the front windshield visor?

Thanks

  • Pat they are green. I have seen a few black but you can paint them any color you want. Its your car.
  • I know they are a flat, anti-glare light green. Same color used in alot of aircraft. Don't know the color name or ID.

It is zinc chromate primer available at most large auto supply, hardware or paint stores. If you can't find it at one of those, go to an aircraft supply store at airport.

Somewhat on topic... I have a set of side window visors I have not installed yet, because I have heard windshield visors rattle at highway speed. I saw several car at the last national meet that had the side visors. They were all installed using sheetmetal screws into the window trim. I was concerned that after drilling into the trim to mount them they would not hold up well the 70 mph speed limit around hear. I this a valid concern, or should I get the drill out?

  • When installed as you described the side window visors will not rattle nor should you have problems with vibration. The sidewindow visors have stamped edges that fit between the window felts and the door trim to aid in the stiffness of the visor.

    Good Luck
  • I have the ventshades on my 54 sedan and have never had a problem. I have run the car at 90+ a couple of times, no rattle or flutter. Don't have a visor on it yet but it is in the garage waiting for brackets and installation.

Thanks for the reply guys. I will be installing them then. They definetly add a touch of class to the side of the car.
