Looking for previous 49 truck owner?
I bought a 49 truck and the previous owner was from Detroit, MI. I need to find him and ask him some info about it. There have been 3 owners between him and I, but title is still in his name.
Here is what is on title and his last info:
Charles Sebastian Ruvolo
27912 Glenwood St.
Saint Clair Shores, MI 48081
This is also what is listed in the new and old directory.
Thanks,
Glen

You're not referring to the one with the serial number that begins "DRF", are you? Because that would be the one, verifiable, Hudson prototype pickup. I could be wrong (and usually am, LOL) but wasn't he the one that got it off the roof of the factory?0

Paul,
Thanks so much for info, I got to talk with Chuck for a long time and I wish someone would write his story in some sort of history file. For being 90 years of age he is still very sharp. He agrees the burgundy one was at the factory before being torn down, but he couldn't buy it because he wasn't a dealer and since he wasn't they couldn't issue a title. So a dealer close to his service station bought it from factory and used it for a service truck. Fourteen months later Chuck traded his very sharp later model Hornet for it. He used it , restored it and after many years of enjoying it sold it to I think the present owner.
As for the one I have that was Chuck's, he bought it from someone in Washington state that had got it from someone in California. He couldn't get his body man to get it in to start the restoration. About this time fellow Hudson guy he new and respected Joe Amman thought he would love having the truck so Chuck sold it to him. Before Joe could get much done he passed away. Joe's widow sold it to a fellow who was going to customize it. He painted it sort of sled looking but decided it ran so well not to rod it. Then traded it for a custom car from the fellow I bought it from, who did nothing to the truck. Chuck and those who have looked at truck agree that who ever converted the 4 door into truck were very skilled or a body company. The back of cab is cut and sectioned out of original top and formed and but welded. The front of bed and cab were made to have room for seat to go back into for more leg room. The bed sides curve to follow body lines. The tail gate has a cable system and latches similar to that used on funeral cars or flower cars of that era. There is storage under floor in front of bed where a spare tire mount and jack holder have been for years. Truck is very rust free compared to the ones I have seen around Indiana. Even the trunk floor is in good shape, except for where they have done the convert ion.
Now all will know a little more history of at least two of the trucks and I would like to find out more about this one and any info on others.
It's Michigan title is: Year- 1949, Make- Hudson, Model----, VID Numbers- 491138101,
Body Style-Pickup, Weight-3960.
Thanks,
Glen0
