52-54 spicer rear backlash help
Hi Guys
One thing I never had to do before was shim up a spicer rear-end to proper specs of .003-.006 clearence's. Any suggestions as to were to obtain shims and if I should attemp to started pressing bearings. Or should I take this to a rear-end shop to safely pull those bearings. Just a shot in the dark if anyone has done this before.
Thanks Russ

You need a special housing spreader for when you get it all set up you must spread the house 0.021 thousand of an inch to add a 0.010 shim on the left side to preload the carrier bearings. Those 2 holes you see it the housing is where the spreader fits. Any other way you will have trouble later on. Walt.Hi Guys

This is exactly the procedure to follow. Dana axle housing has to be spread to be set-up correctly.0 -
