I found a 38 Hudson 4 Dr sedan a month ago. It has no hood or engine.

The grill has ss strips between the louvers and has teardrop headlights.

It also has round guages . What is the differance between a Custom and

a Deluxe. 6 cyl or 8 cyl . Is there much for parts available for this car.

Thanks duncan

I'm assuming you have the model 83 (custom 6), 84 (deluxe 8), or 85 (custom 8). The model numbers represent the first two digits of your serial number, so that's how you'll know. There is a model 87 but that's called a Country Club eight and has a longer wheelbase than the others. There is also the Hudson '112" six, which was the model 89, has a short wheelbase and was the inexpensive car of the Hudson lineup.

The main differences between the custom and deluxe would be mainly the trim levels.

Not a lot of the 83, 84, 85 or 87 cars were built in 1938 so certain body parts will be fairly scarce. However other items like fenders, door panels, and some body panels, will be identical with the 1937's, of which there is a relative larger number of parts available. The engine and drive train are almost unchanged from 1937 so they shouldn't be too much a problem to find. The hood, and any chrome trim, may take some time to find.

    It depends which custom.

The Custom six 4-door was $984.

The Deluxe eight 4-door was $1060.

The Custom eight 4-door was $1171.

Hi Duncan---I may be interested in this car if it is a model 87 long wheelbase sedan. What state does it exist in?---Cliff Minard.

Yup, it is the model 83 Custom Six.

Headlight lenses do pop up from time to time....such as right now, on Ebay.
