Hey All,

My 50 Commodore has a faint sticker on back of the on the panel below the decklid. Says: Birch

In

Berwyn

I know there's a Berwyn, Ill, a Chicago burb, just curious to know if anyone has any info on the dealership and its history.

Before I take it apart to paint, I'm gonna see of a graghics store can reproduce it. Some of the history I can keep with the car. Gotta get the 254 through the machine shop first.

Quite a few years ago, the HET club produced a Hudson Dealer listing. If the signage on your car is for a Hudson dealer versus a used car lot you may find the original information you seek in that listing. DJ Kava of Texas would be another source of this type of information.

    Good Luck
  • You might want to contact the Berwyn Historical Society. There are still a few vintage buildings on Ogden Avenue that were used by car dealers. I remember being in one that was Art Deco style and had a really wild ceramic tile showroom floor.

The Chicago Historical Society has a great research library, much of it is online. They would have the City Directory for that year and businesses would be listed in it.
