Welcome to the forum!
There's several members that have intimate knowledge of the year vehicle you have - but that's not me!
I do love those coupes though!0 -
Greetings, Likes.
The best way to identify it would be the serial number. That can probably be found stamped on a small plate on the passenger's side front door post (under the windshield post). If that plate is missing you can look on the top side of the rear axle housing, somewhere along the passenger's side.
Or, if you have a photo of the car you can publish it to the Classiccar Photo Gallery (see link at very top of this page), then post the location (the U.R.L., which appears in the address box near the top of your screen) here, so we can go over to the Gallery and see it.
You might want to mention what area you are from. We have members all over the country and maybe someone with a car of that era, lives near you and could help identify it "in person".

Still could be a 34 or 35 - as Hudson built an 8 cylinder model in both those years (and from 1930 thru 1952.
http://groups.msn.com/HudsonMotorCarCompany/_whatsnew.msnw
and click on Hudson 1930-1939 on the left and you will find some 1934 and 1935 Hudson photos there (page 2). 1934 and 1935 models are virtual twins, body wise.

If you don't have a program that can resize the pics - send them to me in an email, and I'll post them for you.

If you are running Microsoft's Windows XP then the MS Powertoys suite offers a good (& easy to use) Image Resizer for free. Download it at :

car and model number but there is no model number just the car number it is 4088550
-
Assuming that this is the car's serial number, that indicates that you have a 1940 Hudson, either a "Traveler Six", a "Deluxe Six", or a "commercial" version of a Hudson. These were all six cylinders, and Hudson's "entry level" car line. I'm not sure why you had a "Hudson Eight" nameplate, unless the former owner simply collected it and kept it with the car.
Here's a 1940 coach (or "brougham", or 2-door sedan, if you will...). You didn't mention the body style.
But, let's wait to see a photo of your car body, then we can be sure.0 -
its a five window coupe with Suicide doors i am almost positive its a 34-350
-
Here is a pic of a 1935 Hudson 8 cyl coupe is it anything like this, If so body shape should be similar.0

You're going to have a fun hot-rod regardless, how about sharing the story of how, what, where you found it?0 -
well I found it while I was doing some work for the guy there was also a 1949 Plymouth 2 door hard top but somebody had cut the top off of the Plymouth
but when i first found the car I was soo into the hudson I didnt pay much attection to the plymouth and then i got home and looked then up on the computer and for a little bit I lost all intrest in the Hudson like I said I didnt pay much attechen to the Plymouth and i thought it was a 4 door convertable and if I would have been right it would have been a 39 and 1 of 287 or something like that so I was greatly dissapointed when we got back and found out it was a 2 door and sombody had just cut the top off
back to the hudson I was talking to the land owner to give him his bill and he asked if I still wanted those old cars and I said I was olny interested in the Hudson because I thought the other was a convertable so he said what will you give me for it and I said ohh I dont know $150.00 and he says ok I will sell you the Hudson for one fifty if you haul then bolth out of there and I guess that is my little storie I am Kind of lucky I guess0 -
Well, if worse comes to worse and you decide not to do anything with it, and the body is solid, you can very probably sell parts off it -- or the whole body -- to someone who is trying to fix one up. Depends on the condition, I guess.
Whatever you do with it, don't junk any of the parts until you've checked here at the Forum to see if they may have some value. Who knows, you might make back your entire investment, just selling a few of the parts off the body!0 -

REALLY? 150.00 bux!
That's a whale of steal if you ask me - I've seen worse condition shells of Fords, Chevys sell for thousands more0 -
That's going to be a really nice project. I vote you put a 34' Terraplane grill in it, they look awesome.:D0
-
....and the coupe is always a desirable body style. You evidently have a "trunk" coupe, as opposed to a "rumbleseat" coupe. But it might actually be possible to make it into a rumbleseat without too much fussing. A '34 owner can fill you in on this.
Just take a look at the original factory "look" of these cars before you start any project. You might actually want to restore this to original condition because they were so nice looking. The frame and running gear may be available. And, with the right rearend gears, you can cruise up around 60 mph using the original engine, too.
