I think some people just think it doesnt hurt to ask these prices hoping some fool will bite. but to most of us its laughable in a way.0

For that price that stuff should be fully restored with rebuilt carbs. From the tone of the ad he must have had some pretty choice comments sent his way.0

Like that should come as a surprise to him. :rolleyes:0 -
Adds 75 hp to a 308 racing engine??? I think the only one that could even come close to that would have been Smoky!!!! At least he's got the 10 hp to a stock engine about right.
Sad part of that price is there is always someone who'll pay it - and that just makes the sellers of future parts believe they can get high dollar. Which of course puts a lot of good stuff out of reach of serious Hudson folks.

Maybe he fell off a long and hurt his head?
If ya can't get one bid at 800 why not try 1400
Best of luck0 -
he changed his description of the '10 horsepower' after I e-mailed him, and sent me a nasty, smart-ass reply ! ! he obviously doesn't have much common sense

Considering the other items he has for sale...well, at least he's consistent in setting his prices sky-high. Scary thing is that if he waits long enough some sucker will come along and buy these items.0

I think as many of us as possible go to his ad and ask him all a different question like: how does add 75 horse power to a race engine but only 10 to a stock engine... just to make him PO'd.0

yeah, that's a good one Niels ! ! do that just to see what you get for a reply

The VIN isn't quite right on this. It should have a prefix of 4C or 5C or 5B. The tag is a repop and not a very good job either. Something's fishy. I'd like to look at this title long and hard. Maybe ask Michigan DMV a few questions. He claims to have a Carfax service. Well lets see what Carfax has to say about it's history. Might be interesting.0

:eek:How do you do a carfax on any car built before the eighties when they started using 17 digtit vin numbers? Thank you!0

Hudsonrules, you can not do a CARFAX or any other similar search on any pre-1981 car. If it does not have 17 digits, you are out of luck and have to do things the old-fashioned way - work for the info. Go through your State agency that handles car registrations (DMV, Tax Commission, whatever your state calls it). Since 9/11, it has become far tougher to get info on a car you do not actually hold title to in your name! Some States will not release the info at all, even if you DO own the car!
Maybe if you have an "in" with a local or State cop, they can run the history of the car, as far as YOUR State goes, but they will probably not be able to access out-of-state DMV information witout probable cause that a crime has been committed with that vehicle.
All else fails, take the car apart to look for clues of previous owners. You'd be surprised what that alone will reveal!0
