stutz/Hudson
I recently aqquired this Speedster from Norristown Pa that has been discussed in this forum.
Iwill need alot of help in identifying the components used in it's build.
The only reconizable parts that my friends see are Stutz grill/radiator and mid thirty's Hudson 6 cyl engine and trans.
It was purchased in 1975 by Vincent Arena and was reputed to previously have belonged to a dignitary from Phila. It may have been assembled in the thirty's.
Engine No.s 44600, 312, 171602, HN, Powerdome. Carb WA1-413s. Dist. IGB4301A. Exhaust 12-27. HN, 4642222.
It has a ladder frame and 110" WB, W/ front and rear transverse springs, the front axle is mounted above the springs, the hydraulic brake/clutch pedal unit seems to be a factory setup between the frame and bellhousing. The external band emergency brake mounts to the rear pumpkin.
Rear shocks are lever type, single cyl hyd. and mounted in the frame rail.
19" adj. spoke wheels may be Buffalos.
The attached photos may better identify the car. Thanks for your interest and advise.

Distributor number, IGB-4301A, was used on 1934 Terraplane, 1935 Terrplane to engine #128077 and 1935 Hudson to engine 73791.
The carburetor number don't match any year Hudson or Terraplane. Hudson carburetor numbers go up each year, ie 299S in 1934, 309/310 in 1935, 329/330 in 1936, etc. Closest to your carbs would be 411S used on 1938 Model 89 to S/N 89-36572.
Not sure on the engine numbers - while 44600 would fit 1934, Hudson cars (engine start 30000) only used 8 cylinder while Terraplanes used 6 cylinder engines - and those start at 48000 in 1934.
It's possible you have a 1933 Terraplane Six in there - those numbers started at 20501 in 1933 - putting your engine into the 24,099 car off the assembly line. With shipments of 38,150 for 1933 that 44600 would fit.

Phil, to say the liest you have an interesting car and a really fun looking toy. I am not sure where you want to go with this project but I have to say you are connecting yourself with the right group. I might suggest that you join our national club, and also get aquanted with one of our local chapters near you. Our national club has a subgroup for modified Hudsons. There are a number of ways you can modify a car, but taste and design are what makes it fun. Your car has all the right looks for an early roadster and that is where the fun comes. You can also expect that when you attend one of our meets you will have a number of folks stand around and check out each and every part of your car. Where as some marque clubs shun those who think a bit different with there cars; the Hudson club embraces them. I am one of those who thinks a great deal of the enjoyment is driving and visiting with other car folks--your car is a natural for that type of enjoyment. Welcome aboard, I saw your car when it was on eBay and fell in love with it. Hope to see it at a regional or local meet.0
