Hi all,

For those of you that haven't voted yet for my Dad's car in the Texaco Car of the Decades Contest, we really could use your help. We're down a bunch to the 1942 Ford. Contest ends this Friday at 7PM ET.

Current Votes for 1940's:

1942 Ford - 1997 Pts

1949 Hudson - 1602 pts

1947 Ford - 1221 pts

Each vote can score the car between 1-10 points. So please give our car a 10 :). You will need to register and then login to be able to vote on cars. Registration is very easy.

Please share this with fellow HET members who aren't on the forum.

Thanks

    Hi Guys,

I've had a couple people tell me they tried to register, but never got the email confirmation. They then tried later and it worked.

    Thanks for your efforts!

The 42 Ford guy added 225 points overnite. Something is weird, he only has

3 comments about the car. My Hudson has over 35 comments.
  • If I had three e-mail addresses I would vote three times

    Hi all,

I'm really starting to question this whole contest. I think there is a lot of ballot stuffing going on, not just in our class, but the others as well. Thanks for all your support. Hopefully the Texaco folks will take a close look at the voting but something seems really fishy.

    Greg
  • Jeeze, do you think so? Do you think maybe the ford guy did something like go on his forum and say something like, look folks, the Hudson guys have won car of the week everytime a Hudson is on it, do we want to give them car of the decade too? Lets all get on every email account you can must and all your families accounts and keep the Hudson out of first place. Personally, the 49 Brougham is my favorite car and I would vote for it above all the rest. I believe the rules state one vote per e-mail account. Even if the 49 doesn't win it has still made a respectible showing.

Been there did all of the above - never got an email confirmation.

(Later Friday morning) Re-registered still waiting for confirmation. It's a plot by the Ferd nuts to keep our beloved Hudson from winning!!!!

    My Email to Texaco:

    Dear Texaco,

I would hope that you thoroughly examine the winners of each category to preserve the integrity of this competition. It shouldn't be that difficult to see trends in email addresses, contact info, or IP addresses. If you have 100+ votes from a single IP or similar email address , it should raise a flag. For example, with google gmail you can create a single account and add "+xyz" to the name to use it as an aliase. I could register as many email accounts with your system as I wanted using a single gmail address (e.g. texaco@gmail.com, texaco+1@gmail.com, and texaco+cheat@gmail.com all go to the same address, though your system has no way of knowing).

I know your intentions are well, but there are too many individuals who feel the need to cheat. I would even be happy with you canceling the competition as per your terms due to the ballot stuffing that is going on. Or maybe let the judges pick a single car from each decade then do a run off on their own. I'm sure this competition is turning out to be a lot different than you anticipated, and you are probably inundated with emails of similar requests. Good luck.

    Respectfully,

    Greg Firestone

I'm a honest Hudson guy and I won't cheat. Thanks to everyone for their support. We all know which is the real winner :-)

    Response from Texaco:

Thank you for sharing your input about this year's Car of the Decades

contest. We are carefully monitoring the voting situation and if we find

any wrong doing, we'll address the situation.

We continually reevaluate the Car of the Decades contest every year and

look for areas of improvement. This year, we are requiring all

registrants to verify their email addresses before they can vote or

enter a car, preventing them from using bogus email accounts and voting

    up their own vehicles.

Texaco takes the opinions of car enthusiasts like you very seriously,

    and we appreciate your input.

    Thank you!

    Your Texaco Team

This is quite entertaining now just watching. There must be guys pounding away at the keyboard. It's a drag race. I think they are crazy considering it doesn't end for another 7 hours. But if you sit there and hit the refresh button every 30 seconds, the scores keep going.

    As of 12:01 PM

    42 Ford: 3427

    47 Ford 3058

    49 Hudson: 2226

I would love if Texaco disqualifies them after all their "hard work". LOL
