Hello-



Last weekend there was an orphaned car show at Los Olivos Park in Phoenix. There was a great showing of Hudson’s that I wanted to share.

    It's always nice to see Hudson owners bestirring themselves to get their cars out in public view! I wonder if this splendid turnout "just happened" because a lot of people had the same idea at the same time, or if some local individual or group encouraged them to show up? Our local Hudson chapter has deemed certain mixed-make car shows "official functions", encouraging attendance by its members. We even worked with car show officials in several instances, to have "Hudson" (non-judged) classes created so that all Hudsons, regardless of year or normal AACA class, could park together on the show field. There is strength in numbers, and on more than one occasion I've seen car show visitors remark that they'd never seen so many Hudsons in one spot in their lives. This is how we "spread the word", keep our name before the general public, and even recruit new members.

    I couldn't agree with you more. The local chapters should work more closely with the large car shows. Seems like an obvious thing to do to get exposure. Still trying to figure out why we have two So Cal chapters (So Cal and Inland Empire) and why they don't combine. I've said it before, geoghaphically it still makes sense (how often do they meet and how many show up?), we would have more attendee's at each function and would have better interaction and exposure with fellow clubmembers. I've been told that one chapter would be too big. I dare say that being a "big" a chapter is what some of the "Old Guard" is afraid of. I 'd like to know how they define "too big".
