Hey all,

Wondering if anyone knows if the crank seal is available as a NAPA item for the timing cover on a 36T 212? Or even available at a 'todays' auto parts?

Thanks,

T Jeff

The only number I have is from a pretty old book of intergange parts put ourt by the late Lou Bacchus. 1934-'56 all used the same front timing cover seal, and the numbers I have are Chic/Raw 13823, or 18810, or National 50084. It's a pretty standard type of seal, and should be easily available.

Lou Bacchus's Swaps Manual also said that that is the same as a 50's Chrysler six in that case it's a National 6636S, NAPA/CR 21814 with a width of 0.687 inches or a National 6186, NAPA/CR 21820 with a width of 0.469 inches. The other dimensions are ID 2.1880" OD 3.194". The Swaps Manual also gives a Victor 49099 or a Fel Pro 2539 as a replacement. These seals and the C/R 18810 and the National 50084 (now called a 450084) cross to a NAPA 18785 with dimensions of ID 1.8750", OD 3.0010" and width 0.3130". You are going to have to measure your seal to see which one of these seals is right.

NAPA 49099 is a good current number, I think.

    Yes team you are winners!!

Indeed the 18785 (National 450084) was the correct item.

Fits like a glove and at only $11.99 it was the perfect ticket!

    THANKS as always,

    Hudsonly,
