Horn Button help

I am installing a 51 steering wheel with the horn ring, in place of a 49 steering wheel that has a center button. It will bolt on just fine..but...I can't find an exploded view of the horn ring detail. The 48-54 parts book shows a 54 which is different. I seem to be missing a part or parts that make the horn connection. There should be a spring to hold the horn ring centered? The contact pieces that were under the 49 button are too large to fit and are just plain wrong.:confused:

Any help would be appreciated.

    I found three small coil springs that go under the horn ring screws. Now the horn ring feels like it should. Still misssing something in the center that contacts the horn wire.

    its a leaf spring i'd say about 1/2" x 3" (of course both those dimensions are about plus or minus 3":D) there are rectangular slots at 3 and 9 o'clock that it slips into.

    I donot have a picture of the actual parts, the following drawing depicts the parts and how they work with the steering wheel and horn ring. Without these parts the horn ring will not make contact with the center wire going down the steering shaft. Good Luck.

    Looks like all i need to do is duplicate that strip and maybe put a spring under the electrical contact and I will be fixed up. Thanks very much and also thanks to walt in Louisiana for his help too..

    I made the cross spring from a piece of hack saw blade. Used a bench grinder to shape it and remove the paint. I had to keep it cool, so it would retain it's "springyness" It worked great. Then I modified a small spring from a door upholstry project to fit under the horn wire. The other parts missing, were the three little rubber bumpers between the steering wheel and horn ring. They sit in small indentions in the wheel between the three hold down screws. They resemble very small brake cups. Something that could easily fall off and never be noticed. Like mine did. I found one on another wheel. Without them, the horn ring will rattle and the horn could blow by it's self. I used some small faucet washers about 3/16" thick that fit perfectly. Da horn blows just like it should.

    I now have green wheel to match the car. The color in the center is exactly the same as one of the two tone greens on the outside. Goes very well with the non original green interior. Now to find a shift and turn signal knob in green. Anyone want to swap for some brown ones?
