Rocker Panels

Good morning all,

I am sure majority of you knew rocker panels offered on eBay auction weren't correct for earlier step downs, because I didn't know I wrote seller to confirm if they would fit my '52 coupe and he politely send below reply that I thought would be helpful to '55-57 owners.

"Hi Ray

Thanks for the email. I just looked at the description and sorry for the confusion. Yes they fit the Hudson but for the 1955-57 only. I will revise the description and make it clearer.

Thanks"

Brian"

This morning I am driving about 80 miles north of Las Vegas to Mesquite this is my first visit since I passed out last July and where my car is located. Bringing 17 parts (inner wheel wells and under the hood parts etc.) I had stripped and power coated at www.americanpolishingplating.com . Also bringing additional one quart of PPG DP 402 Catalyst Fast and one gallon DP Epoxy Black Primer, can't believe how prices keep increasing. Example: on 8/21/08 I purchased one quart @ $84.50 and one gallon @ $141.95 and yesterday same items at same body shop paint supply outlet with same clerk, cost $93.00 and $156.15 respectively. I intend to use PPG Beltron DBC or DBU base coat maroon, don't have maroon paint number yet , but choose Wimbleton Ford 9A for future two tone paint job of coupe. I know using PPG it will be costly for paint, activator, hardener and clear coat. Today I'll try and help Allen with placing car on rotisserie doing a little frame work. Sheet metal was removed again which will make for easier process; if I can get my camera working right I'll post some pictures.

Always look forward to getting a step closer of restoration...Just in case anyone has stainless steel rain shields / guards for my coupe, I'd be interested in buying a set. Picked up complete window channel requirements from Victor and most of my weather proof items from K-Gap while attending Laughlin meet two weeks ago; just trying to stay a leg up with anything else car requires.

Have a good productive day,

Ray

    Ray-

Did you look in the latest WTN for the rain shields? I thought I remembered seeing a set listed.
  • Hi Russell, I just returned home from Hudsoning and received your welcome message, I immediately rushed out to SUV to check my WTN for rain shields and remembered when showing to Allen I left it garage. Spent a long day and removed, rear end, engine and transmission (Allen did) again before putting coupe on rotisserie. Tomorrow he'll start to remove undercoating, prep & sand blast under carriage frame rails etc., then make necessary welding repairs before painting, when this car is finished it should last another 50 years or way after my demise.

As I mentioned in earlier thread using PPG expoxy, in fact see some pictures of fenders, doors, trunk both exterior and interior of all the parts

were blasted again, stripped and primed inside and out, then in near future using PPG Prima K36 then sand / block until satisfied, Allen is a real professionist and not happy with oridinary workmanship, only wish I meet him a long time ago or before starting project..I don't know if any of you change rear suspension, if so how do you like change, or maybe I'll find a good spring rebuilder and stay with original Hudson suspension set up? I am attaching some pictures I took today and hope I downsized then correctly.

    Have good night,

Project's looking good. Wish I was a little further along on my project! I'm a little behind you, apparently. Is it gonna be ready for the Nat'l.?
  • Good Morning Russell,

Thanks, I am sure with your skills a little extra time you'll have your car ready of which I'd really like to see upon completion.

Good Luck, & hope you all enjoy a safe Happy Thanksgiving!!!
