'37 TP question
Anyone with a '36 - '39 Hudson or TP will know what I am referencing here (hopefully!)...
Under the rear seat bottom cushion, there is a factory hole about six inches by six inches that I understand allows airflow through the car when the cowl vent in opened up. It appears there is supposed to be some sort of canvas cover that goes over that to keep road trash from coming up into the car, as well as keep varmints out. Does anyone have this hole covering intact in their '36 - '39 car??? Does anyone have pics of this cover? Know how it's attached?

That was indeed an air inlet, and had a cloth "filter" covering the hole. It worked when the cowl vent was closed and the windwings partially open. The open wings created a slight vacuum in the car, drawing air in from underneath through that filter. My '36 had the original filter in place when I got it. The cloth was stretched over an oval shaped piece of "spring wire". I can't recall exactly how it snapped into place ... I believe there's a kind of groove around the edge of the hole, and it snapped into that.0

yes, I had a good one - dirty and dry rotted but still all there. I had a handful made from light canvas cloth with new internal wires sewn in just like the original. To make four it took ten hours.
how much you ask - fifty each. If there is enough demand I can get more made which should drop the price. Just so you know Im not making money on this. my price is your price.
the original came from a 37 TP coupe0 -

Got pictures? Does the price include whatever holds it in place over the opening???0 -
I actually had a new one made for my '36T. I used my original one for a pattern and had a local seamstress reproduce it in similar materials and I have it re-installed in the car. I have my old one, if you need that for a pattern?? Email me. I am back in NJ for Thanksgiving, but I am doing email and I will be back in CA on 12/3.0

I call it a breather skirt -
it was made from a material called duck and it is unbleached.
the wire is sewn into the fabric just like the original.
olay - i took some pictures and posted them at photobucket goto
http://s717.photobucket.com/albums/ww175/hbarbera/
pictures are towards the end of the album with a few pages of instructions and measurements from the seamstress - i have four left but need two - so two are available and since I had five made for the $200 they are only fourty each not fifty
again if there is enough interest Im sure i can have more made and since all the measurements have been made and instructions outlines the next batch depending upon quantity should be cheaper.0 -
