I hate scrappers!!!!!!!!

dave here. just wondering if you know where I can score some 47 hudson parts. hood and grille, radiator. tailgate for a 47 hudson truck?

I finally sealed a deal with my old boss on his 47 hudson truck, and went to get it out of the old shack it was in. when to my surprise, some ignorant scrapper decided to steal alot of metal in there. including the hood, tailgate, radiator, seat, and grille.

so, now I have a perfectly patina'd truck with some missing parts. If I have to, I can remake the tailgate and make a die in my metalshop to hammer out the "hudson" letters on it, and I can use a different radiator. but the grille and hood are difficult to go without.

they only made like 1500 hudson trucks from 46-48, so parts are scarce.

I'm not sure but, I think they used front sheetmetal from the cars. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, dave tinlin

What part of the country do you live in?

By the way, more like 3200 were built in 46 and about that many in 47.

About 850 are registered with the HET club and probably 100 or so more survive that aren't registered.

Yes, most everything from the cab forward was shared with the cars.

Glen Johnson in Utah makes really nice repop tailgates...:D
  • wow. that many. I must have been mistaken. thanks for the correction.

I live in northeast ohio. a guy told me that the truck sheetmetal was 4 door sheet metal from the door forward. so, I might be able to find the parts I need after all. any idea on how much he gets for the tailgates? is he on here?
  • The radiator is 46/47 six cylinder. The hood 46/47 supers. The grill 46/47 all. The difference in the front fenders is the cars have a cut out in the back corner for the inclosed running boards and the doors are the same as the 4 door supers except the cars had a piece on the bottom to cover the boards. Commadores were the same except different trim. I think the tail gates are around $400.00. That is what I paid for mine when The first batch was made.
