There is a solid wire about 24 inches coming out of my ranco valve body, what is its purpose and where does it go to.

Thanks in advance.

Yup mines hangin out too. Must have to be curled up to fit inside where the blower motor is.
  • Each of the Hudson Heaters has a hole in the bottom of the case with a clamp which is where the thermostatic tube is inserted. The tube is placed in front of the heater core in a manner that allows it to be heated by radient heat coming through the radiator. The tube when heated causes the ranco valve to lower the flow of water there by keeping the radiator in the desired heat range.

It must be inserted in the heater core about 1 and 1/2 in. Not on the outside of the core. Walt.
