Casting Advice

Some of us early Super Six guys are looking for a company to cast a few heads. I have talked with Empire Motors in El Paso Tx, and they seem to be the most reasonable. Has anyone done business with them, or know of a company that would take on a project like this? Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks, Gene.

Try contacting Charlie Yapp at http://www.secretsofspeed.com/ He makes several Model A Ford heads and I am sure he can give you some advice based on his experiences.0

casting advice: don't ever do a movie with Rock Hudson... he's a pain in the rear. LOL0

hudsonsplasher, I will check out Empire Motors in the next few days and let you know what they are all about. Hudsonly Rudy.0

Rudy, I'm interested in what you find.
SuperDave, I'll check with Mr. Yapp.
And nhp1127, I'll be sure to remember that. LOL.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the replys.

Gene, it might be worthwhile to check with Geoff Clark or other folks in New Zealand and Australia. It seems foundry prices for smaller jobs are quite reasonable there, plus the folks down under have a large number of the earlier cars, so they might expand the number of units to be made. The cost might be enough lower to more than justify the shipping cost to USA.0

Park,
Geoff and I have corresponded. In fact, Geoff is working on a engine that has a damaged head, and this started the ball rolling. Thanks for you reply.0 -
Had a good visit with Valor D Blazer the owner of Empire Motors Inc
13451 Montana Ave.
El Paso tx 79938-9616

He and his small crew are Quality Casters with the latest Maching equipment. He gave me a tour and we inspected the parts being cast from start to the finished part. Aluminum and iron Manifolds, cylinder blocks and heads ,from flatheads to over head valves. Also repairs damaged castings.
Hope this is of help . You can see some of his work on the Web-site.

Thanks Rudy, your info raises my comfort level considerably. His web site is impressive, but you never know who you're dealing with. I appreciate your effort in this project, and I'll pass this info on.
Thanks again, Gene.0 -
Has any thought been given to doing the heads as Super Power Dome type and maybe bumping up the compression with this project? Is there any way to improve the combustion chamber in these heads?0

The head will be the high compression type for the era. Unless you're planning a trip through the mountians, or racing, I don't think there would much to gain to boost any thing more than that.0 -

Lots of dirt on this outfit, and this Mr Blazer, none of it good, to be found on the internet. From what I have been reading, the castings were done in Mexico, and of indifferent quality. Not surprising as it's just over a bridge across the Rio Grand to Juarez.
Thank you very much for your interest and comments on Empire Motors. This doesn't sound like a business that I want to deal with!!
