Bearings for side windows

Hi in Hudsonland. I would like to know if anybody found a suitable

number for the bearings used on the side windows and quarter windows on our 54 Hornet Hollywood. My bearings are all rusted and it takes 4 bearings for each window and shafts. Thanks

    Duncan, If you find a source please post it. I've looked at several sources and all have come up with nothing. One outfit who is one of the biggest bearing distributors in the US says that those bearings were likely custom sized by the window manufacturer. They are a bastard size. You can get the o.d. or you can get the i.d. but you can't find a bearing with both that match. I finally got another car with windows that had decent bearings.

    As stated above the bearings were a odd size. But I have used bearings from a company called studebacker international (317) 462-3124. They sell studebacker parts. Dont have there catalog in front of me. But they sell a package of roller bearing for mid 50's hardtops. They OD of the bearing is slightly larger but the pin in the middle is the exact size in length and width. A set is 79.90 and comes with ten rollers but only 8 can be used. The other two have a larger roller pin in the center. It also comes with the "keepers" I will call them. It is the U bent odd shape metal piece that pushes the middle two bearings (same as hudson used). If interested I will look the part numbers up tomorrow.



    Since they are slightly larger I usually use one old bearing to compensate the tightness. When they are all in there one bearing doesnt want to roll. But they may be ble to be turned down in a lathe.

    Russ,have you also used the spring that goes with these?.

    Yes Doug, I called it a keeper. I have used them. They also sell the springs seperately. Get about 4-6 a pack. Have extras if you need some. Some are kinked on the ends, just put a pair of pliers to strighten them out.

    Can throw the springs in the envolpe if you want them for free. Let me know
