This may sound like a newbie question, but I've done my searches here on the board and nothing comes up.

How does the back of the front seat seperate from the cushion section? I'm wanting to send all the metal trim items out to be painted and need to get to the piece that the rope handle assembly attaches to.

Thanks for any help. - Chris

  • Chris, The front sedan seatback cushion attaches to the seat frame by means of 3 hook retainers near the top of inside of the seat frame. Also there are two bolts near the bottom of the seatback cushion that are secured to the seat frame. Once you remove the seat cushion bottom, and have removed the bolts attaching the seatback cushion frame, push up and pull toward the windshield on the seat back cushion. This should release the clips that hold the cushion in place.Once the cushion is removed, you now have access to the trim strip fastener for the front seat ,and the grab handle hardware in addition. If I remember correctly the trim strip has one nut and washer in the middle of the seatframe back and the other two sides are secured with the hardware from the grab handles. It likely sounds more complicated than it is.
  • Thank you very much. I think you described it very well! I will let you know for sure later this week when I can get out in the garage and try it out.
